現代的日本畫（膠彩畫）可以簡約分類為“傳統風格”和“當代風格”，而片野莉乃則是一位能將這兩種不同風格巧妙融會於一的畫家。畢業於多摩美術大學日本畫碩士班，她既能以專業傳統風格水平描繪風景、人物等的技巧，另外再融入“鳥瞰”、“點描”和“色塊構成”等獨特技法，呈現出同時賦予傳統和當代日本畫味道的片野莉乃的風格。她的作品的另一大特點，是畫面散發出令人感到“療癒”和“溫暖”的氛圍。
現代の日本画は「伝統系日本画」と「現代アート系日本画」に大別出来るが、片野莉乃は、その中間に位置する、非常にバランスの良い画家だ。多摩美術大学日本画修士課程出身の彼女は、風景や人物の「伝統系日本画」を描く「確かな描画技術」を持っていて、その上に、「俯瞰視点」「点描」「色面の構成」など独特の特徴を加える事で、「伝統系の日本画」と「現代アート系日本画」を融合させた「伝統系日本画」と「現代アート系日本画」両方の味わいの有る「片野莉乃の日本画」を完成させた。その他、「癒し」「人の温もり」等を感じさせる点も、彼女の作品の特徴で有る。
Modern "Japanese painting" can be summarily divided into the "traditional style" and the "contemporary style", yet Katano is a well-rounded painter talented in both schools of painting techniques. With a Master's degree in Japanese Painting at Tama Art University, she is exceptionally skilled in the painting of landscape and figurines by the traditional method. Simultaneously, her works entail elements of “overhead view”, “pointillism”, and “color blocks” to present Katano-style paintings that coherently combine the characteristics of both traditional and contemporary styles of Japanese art. Another intriguing feature of her works is perhaps the healing and warmth sensation they exude.
